2007 Hitching Post Pinot Noir Cork Dancer 7.1 Santa Barbara County

This was actually consumed back on September 6th, but I never did publish the blog entry for this. OOPS! Hitching Post is one of those Santa Rita Hills wineries that we absolutely love, and they craft solid pinot noir year in year out. This is kind of their entry model pinot noir, but at around $20, it's a good go to wine.

Popped, well, unscrewed and poured on the bistro. Nice garnet color in the glass. Typical nose of cherries, with some hints of cola, and secondary nuances of strawberry and raspberry, with some earth, herb, and spice.

On the palate, plenty of red fruits here, and again, lots of black cherry and raspberry dominate the palate, with a nice earthiness and vegetalness. Smooth, strong, and pleasant finish show that this is drinking nicely now, and will continue to evolve for a couple of years. All in all, another solid wine. Happy Labor Day! 86 points. Cheers!
