2006 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard

Popped and poured tonight with sushi of all things at Tsukasa…just because we can!  We were craving a big, fruit forward pinot noir tonight, and we have a ton of the ’06 Kosta Browne’s in the cellar, so why not as I am trying to drink through the entire lineup by the end of the year, just to say we have had one of each.

Typical gorgeous redish/ruby color in the glass, and a typical Kosta Browne nose.  For whatever reason, this wine seemed a to have a bit more of the floral aromatics than some of the other vineyards from Kosta Browne.  Tons of great strawberry and raspberry, on the nose, with of course some black cherry and cherry cola as well.  The floral notes came in as well, with some hints of rose petal and lavender.  Who doesn't like the nose on these wines?

On the palate, to me, this wine still seems young.  Call me crazy, but I think this wine is still going to get better.  More cherry and cola on the palate, with a nice berry medley as well.  There is definitely some alcohol here that still needs to integrate, but it is not overpowering in the least.  I'd give it another year or so, and it will integrate nicely.  Nice spice though, with some hints of cinnamon and tea.  The shining star however on the palate is the cherry, and that is not a bad thing in the least.

Nice pleasant finish, but again, the alcohol just needs a bit of time to integrate.  Even so, this was delicious with all kinds of fruit oozing from everywhere.  Gotta love fruit from Kanzler!  92 points!
