2008 Stefania Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains

Here is yet another wine I have been looking forward to, and just proof once again that I need to pop open another one of the '07's of this wine!  I think this wine may have had the best nose of the lineup, but it is pretty close as I loved the nose on the Haut Tubee as well.

Popped and poured 2 bottles of this tonight, which was actually an accident, as one of the '08's was supposed to be pulled for the NYC offline on the 13th.  Sorry guys!  Even so, gorgeous deep ruby color in the glass, perhaps even more so than the prior vintage.

On the nose, all I can say is fruit, fruit, fruit!  So much red fruit going on here it's amazing!  Tons of raspberry, black cherry, and strawberry, with some nice creamy spice, a bit of vanilla, and some floral notes.  I don't remember the '07 being this floral in all actuality, but that is not a bad thing in the least.

On the palate, lots of cherry again on the palate, with some nice jammy and ripe black and blueberry as well.  Definitely a bit of earth to this wine, with some tannin and a bit of alcohol on the finish.  This wine is super young, but I think this will surpass the 2007, once again saying that Paul's wines are getting better with every vintage.  This one should be awesome with more time, and I am so glad that we took a case of this on futures!  Can't wait to receive these!  In the mean time, we'll have to re-vist the 2007!  Can't wait to see how this wine develops!  No score yet, but again, another 90+ point wine!  Cheers!

Um, seeing as this wine hasn't even been released yet, how could you possibly have tried this? I bought this wine from the winery directly and haven't even received them yet!

Anonymous: if you scroll down a few posts, there is an entire recap of the Stefania tasting that we hosted for Paul and Stef from Stefania, along with about 35 friends in our backyard. Paul was gracious enough to send out a case and a half of their wines, including some from the 2008 lineup, as well as wines going back to 2005. This happened to be one of them.

My notes are now up for all of their wines, and if you search above and below this thread, you will see them. Hope that helps! Cheers!
